Big news is on the horizon for the Wellington Community Services Center (CSC)—we’re making a strategic shift that will bring lasting benefits to our town, and we couldn’t be more excited to share it with you.
After years of planning for a new-build project in Wellington, we are proud to announce that the CSC has officially purchased an existing property at 3520 Harrison Avenue. This 2,323 square foot warehouse, situated on three city lots with a fenced yard, will become the new, permanent home of the Wellington CSC—including the much-needed space for the Wellington Food Pantry.
This change in direction represents more than just a location switch. It’s a smarter, more efficient path forward that will help us serve our community sooner and more sustainably.
Why This Change?
Originally, our vision centered on constructing a brand-new facility from the ground up in downtown Wellington. But as we moved deeper into planning, it became clear that purchasing and renovating an existing building offered significant advantages:
- Lower total cost than new construction
- A faster timeline to open our doors to the community
- Less fundraising is needed to make it happen
- A more functional and accessible location for our programs
This decision aligns with our mission to support Wellington-area residents in times of crisis and need, without unnecessary delay. It brings us closer to opening the doors of a safe, welcoming, and functional space that offers essential services, from food distribution to connections to housing, medical, and employment support.
What’s Next?
Renovations to the Harrison Road property will begin soon. We’re designing the space with purpose: to meet the immediate needs of our clients and provide room to grow our services in the years ahead. With a warehouse layout and ample lot space, this location offers flexibility and capacity for programs we’ve only dreamed of until now. We are proud to be working with local general contractor, Blue Pine Construction.
We’re also deepening partnerships with local agencies, expanding wraparound services, and working to make this new location a hub of care, dignity, and support for anyone who walks through our doors.
